Possible to insert cars from Monoco Grand Prix 2 demo (or final) into F1RS?

by Brian Shor » Tue, 27 Oct 1998 04:00:00

Has anyone tired inserting the car models from the MGPRS2 demo into
F1RS?  I love the new car models in MGPRS2 (except for the generic
paint) but I want to race them on all the tracks, and dont want to get
RS2 until it's either released in the US or is bugfixed.  If not
possible with the demo, is it possible with the final release?

Thanks,
Brian Short

What are all these bugs in MGP? I've been racing it quite a lot and
haven't found any.

As I said in my post, I just have the demo... I'm probably going to wait for
the US Release to get the final product.  Just read the boards at
www.f1racingsimcom/f1rs2 and a lot of people are listing problems...

A lot of people then have not sorted out their systems.

I've had the demo from day-0, without a glitch on a measly P-166 with a
Monster 3D. You know... I regularly scan for updated drivers for the
Monster, my SB-16 and you know what... that keeps my system running perfect
for games.

MGPRS2 has NEVER given me problems. Only in the pile-up of 20 cars on Spa
did my system crack under the stress. But I blame my low CPU-power for that.

And for that matter, F1RS has never given me troubles. Once I crashed the
sim, but that was after I inserted a new skyline for Melbourne. Took it out,
no problems.

People love to *** at:

2 Ubisoft for their %&^^&%^$$%# buggy sims
3 Diamond and their ^&*%^$%^$% Monster (2) 3D
4 Creative's ^%^&^%#$%$%^& Soundblasters

while it all boils down to:

***system installations!

MGPRS2 on my PC is Bug Free.

I haven't found one yet either. So far it's been running perfect.

Well, it means I have to stay awake until about 6 am on two days in a
row...

I can feel the exitement building up.  I have been wondering why
everyone is talking about lap times in Hockenheim, Monaco or whatever,
but not Suzuka.  I really think it will create extra thrills to watch
the race on a track you have been trying to beat for the last 3 weeks!
I got my first car sim F1RS some weeks ago and haven't driven another
track yet!

I'm going to start on Suzuka tonight. Yes, I'll be pretending to be Michael
Schumacher. I'm guessing a Mikko will be pretending to be.......Mikka?  :-)

What times are people getting at Suzuka? I'm a novice at the setups, but since
Guy Cote is finding his feet with MGP I've been having to get my hands dirty. I
can't get near the 136:xx record - in fact I have to confess that I haven't got
below 1:40 yet. In F1RS using Guy's setup I can get pretty close. I tried
copying Guy's setup into MGP but the car was undriveable. Also this circuit has
everything - fast straights, wiggly bits, fast corners, hairpins, chicanes and
a cross-over. It seems that anything you do to gain speed on one section is
just going to cost you on another. Anyone else having these problems.

Paul,

Try the setups from this site. http://www.sherris.demon.co.uk/  I've just
begun testing them for myself and so far I like them a lot. I thought I had
put together some very fast laps, but then my times told me something else.
:-)  MGP is a whole new ballgame. There is a zip with setups for each track
and he just updated 3 of them today which need to be downloaded individually
(including Suzuka). Also, you'll have to adjust the gearing a little
depending on which car you use. He mentions this in the read me text. If you
want to exchange ghosts for Suzuka, let me know.
