As the DS II 220 is Verite based (V2100), does Nascar 2
benefit from it, or are there as many problems with N2
as there seem to be with ICR2 ?

From my experience, the S220 works very well with N2....I can run 39 cars
with everything on, and only get a rare framerate drop. The rest of the time
it's like butter.....
And this with a P166.......

Hey John....some(not all but some!) of the DSII's are V2200!   Anyhow, I
have the V2100 and did have some problems getting ICR2 to work, but
there are ways to do it and I'm about 99% satisfied with those
workarounds.  N2 hasn't given me a*** of trouble.  Some people have
had problems running from dos but it seems to run fine for me.   I've
run N2 from the win95 menu, from a dos session in win95 and booting
straight to dos all without problems.  Not sure why but it works for
me....and YES both N2 and ICR2 do benefit GREATLY from a Verite`.
Graphic Quality is up and Frame Rate improves as well.  It's not ARCADE
perfect in speed, but  it is dang close.  Also, there is a 3dfx patch
now availible, it only works for N2 but some people have reported good
speed with it although slightly blurry compared to the Rendition 3d.

Just don't fool with Win98 until Diamond does new drivers!  I had to take
my S220 back.  I'm content with my M3D and the N2 3DFX patch for now...

Hey! I didn't bother downloading the 3DFX patch because I've got a
Matrox M3D, which is of course a Power VR chip card. The 3DFX patch
works with an M3D? How?

John,
For what it's worth, I bought the Diamond Stealth II 220 to run NASCAR2,
after trying DS 3D 2000, adding memory, upgrading processor from 100 to
166MHz (pre-MMX)...and it seems to work!  (Why didn't Papyrus/Sierra tell
me right off to get a rendition card???)

Much improved frame rate and I don't experience problems that I can
identify to video card (only TEN crash/connection problems).

Good luck.
