Hawaii question

Last night I logged on to hawaii for the first time in 2 months. Anyway,
at the end of the race, I got a message across the top of the screen
that said "skill 0 feedback -5". What does this mean? My skill level
entering the race was 0. I qualified ninth and finished eighth. No
incidents - never even tapped a wall.

The feedback number is the skill level points you accumulated. Generally,
if you finish more than halfway through the pack, you get a positive
number. If you finish more than halfway back, you get negative points.
However, there are things that modify that somewhat. Drivers who are more
than 2 skill levels removed from you don't count. So in your case, only
drivers who are skill level 0-2 will have any effect on your rating. So you
can finish 1st in a field of 40 drivers who are skill level 15 and still
get no points for it. OTOH, if you finish behind that same field 40
drivers, you don't lose any points.
