It was said last year  when GP3 was released that GP4 would follow this year
with its online capabilities and (hopefully ) improved physics . Is this
still on and if so , has a release date been mentioned yet ?

I like GPL but fancy trying a modern F1 sim for a change.

Andrew

BTW Is it worth getting GP3 for know?

GP3 is an excellent sim, if you can get past the graphics. It isn't a
beginners sim though you must stick with it and learn the tracks..

This is not true. I have both in any version. F1 Racing Championship is as
buggy as RC2 was in the beginning. In a normal ( Asus board, Asus graphics,
Win98)
you can have big problems with the graphics. Furthermore, the sound is plain
sh...
The***pits? Oh my god. I will stick with GP3 as long as their is no useful
update
available for F1RC.

I had to answer your question 5 dayz ago I would say NO! But with the latest
patch the fps utility and the GPXpatch1.21 this is an excellent "sim" after
you swallow the weak graphic engine... and providing you have a beast under
the hood!

Is there a new patch for GP3? With improved fps?
Where can I get it?

Geoff Crammond would therefore need to completely go back to his source code
and restart it all the way.  Since he's only just a compiler programmer, I
doubt such above thing would happen in such short time lapse.  It took him
all those years for the minimal updates that were in GP3...

I do not like GP3, there are many things about it I just do not like. I
don't mind the graphics being dated somewhat. My 2 biggest complaints are
the clutch (you have to engage the clutch or else the car will still be
under power by the engine), the other is the joystick calibration (it's dos,
and it doesn't see all my joystick functions, so it's impossible to use a
button as the clutch).
I played the demo of F1RC, and it seemed like if you even think about
touching a curb your going to spin, and I might add, every spin seemed to be
the same. Which to me is irritating, because if you watch a race, those
guy's are all over the curbs.
My favorite at the moment is F1CS2000, but it's far from perfect, it doesn't
seem to have the "feel" of the other sims.

Just curious.  What is a compiler programmer?  I would imagine anybody
that started on the BBC and other 8 bit machines was more of an old
school computer wiz and compiler programmer sounds like a modern
phrase?

Hehe...I'm also wondering what a 'compiler programmer' is :)

Someone who knows his way round Assembler, i'd hardly take it as an insult
myself.

Well, whether you use Assembly or C/C++ you still use a compiler.  Hence the
term 'compiler programmer' doesn't really mean much, it just describes
someone who doesn't use an interpreted language like Java.
