Is there any reason why I can't get a decent frame rate with a P2 350, 128mb
RAM, Voodoo2 8mb, AWE64, MS FF wheel? If you look at the road everything
looks nice and fast, but if you glance to the side i.e grandstands, pit
lanes etc. you can see is jerk badly! I have all detail turned up, since no
setting (except maybe track drawn ahead) affects the frame rate. I am the
type of person that has to have at least 30fps at the expense of fancy
graphics when it comes to racing games. I have come to the conclusion that
the engine just isn't built for silky smooth action... Another thing that
really bugs me is the way the AI cars seem to bob around so much as if I
were racing online with ***latency. I have turned off FF (that really
slows things down) and I can't think what else to try. The game is
brilliant, I only wish it had the fluidity of SCGT...

P.S. Does anyone have a fix for the FF slowdown thing, as it affects quite a
few games. (N3, GPL, SCGT, Driver, but not Midtown Madness or TOCA 2)

I have a P3 500 Voodoo3 and 128meg and  MS FF wheel
the game runs fairly smooth with everything turned on
but occasionally there is some jerkiness to the graphics
i still really like this game and
play it quite often, i am hoping for a patch to work on the slight lag
but it is still very playable, i have noticed the FF is a bit of a power hog
but am willing to take the hit on framerate just to get that feeling
of FF control i have been craving for in Nascar since N1,
i have also notice the bobing of the Ai cars and hope there may be a fix for
this in the future,
i also have an AMD K6-2-400, Voodoo2 ,128meg and Ms FF wheel
and i have the graphics tuned back a little bit on that machine to keep the
framerate up but it still runs Ok.(Not Great) but Ok.

Yesterday I just installed a VooDoo2 in a system where I had been
running Nascar3 w/ software-only graphics (333MHZ AMD).  After
re-installing Nascar3 (not sure if I deleted all of the old version
first) I found that my desktop shortcut STILL pointed to the
software-only executable.  I had to manually change it to
"C:\SIERRA\NR1999\NASCAR Racing 1999 Edition 3DFX.exe" so that it ran
the proper hardware accelerator executable.

One other very minor irritant that was solved was that on exiting the
software-only N3 back to my 800x600 desktop always knocked my right-most
row of desktop shortcuts back to the left as switching to 640x480
resolution always does --- the hardware accel version doesn't do this.
