I know GPL is great, but constantly seeing the "GPL is Best!" threads
re-hashed is like being caught in an endless loop of Back In The USSR.
It's fun for a while, but now it's old and tired.

God, I hope N4 or GP3 can give GPL a hard enough punch in the belly to
make it go away for at least a couple of months. =8^/

Try 'back in the USA ' by MC5... I think that will help get everything back
into  perspective...

Ain't anything other to talk about.
Unless you want us to shout "SOS 1937 is the Best!" ;-)

Quite like the endless loop of the B side of the Ummagumma LP (Alan
Psychadelic's breakfast).  It's made so you fall asleep. Eh.

Any future title by Papyrus that will use the new game engine will probably
be technically superior to GPL in every aspect of the simulator.  There is a
good chance that GP3 will also be superior in the majority of aspects.  But
since GPL was so ahead of it's time, it will be kept in many people's heart
as if it's something special, unique.

Like people still race F1GP today!

It's not old to me.  I waited until it was in the bargain bin and
bought it (along with LWFF).  Just an phenomonal game.

I think that GP3 could essentially wipe GPL out of the newsgroup late
this summer.  The game will then be two years old.

However, some of us will still need a good dose of on-line racing and it
looks like GPL will still be filling that itch for some time to come.

Why would we start talking about it...6 months before it's released?

GP3 won't, simply because of the completely different physics between them
and the eras modelled.  Even if the physics engines were identical, the
"feel" of GPL over GP3 would be like comparing chalk and cheese.

N4 might....depending upon how far Papyrus go with the physics.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I even wish GPL wasn't so good, that it
wasn't so easy to get enthusiastic even after two years.... then I tell
myself to stop being so bl**dy stupid! :->

The horrible truth is that the more you put into GPL, even if it's only a
hour at a time here and there, the more you get out, which is why we get
the endless stream of postings.

The sky's the limit with GPL!... Well, it is at the Pants ring anyway :-)

My feelings exactly.  I don't expect to be sliding through corners with 4
wheel drift in GP3, which is a large part of the charm of GPL.  Since the
cars handle so differently, straight up comparisons aren't really in order.
For you flight sim fans, it'd be like comparing Red Baron 3D to European Air
War.  Both are great sims, but the subject matter is strikingly different.

I really do hope that GP3 is a marvelous sim, and this isn't just some blind
GPL loyalty.  But I don't expect GP3 to wipe GPL off the board regardless of
how great it might prove to be.

Very good points. I just hope that GP3 will give me an impression of
driving a hi-tech formula-1 car, something i think F1 2000 have some
problems of doing. GPL really make me feel that i'm strapped into a
rocket going way to fast for my own good.

A better analogy is to compare a WW2 sim with a modern jet-sim, isn't it ?

No, but I hope every time when a new sim is released that it will show
GPL where my shelf is, but with no internet-play and FF i fear that
GP3 might not be the one. I'd love to be proven wrong, since the rest
of it looks very promising.

I might have said so, but by the time they finally get GP3 out the door both
it and GPL will be dealing with historical seasons.  :-)
