Trojan in GP3???

Since today, everytime i start the game, ZoneAlarm alerts me that GP3
(the Class warez one) wants to communicate to the internet....
Has it happened to anyone?
Any reason what the hell it wants to do that?
To me, either it's a trojan in the Class version or Hasbro wants to
know about us...
Watch out!

Whether it was added to the warez version by some *** creep
or by hasbro, if true it would be hilarious.

It's reasons like this that I refuse to download a Warez version of ANY
game.... Not the illegality of having a game I didn't pay for as much as
fear that I've just opened a can of worms on my PC!

I have the same thing happening.  Not sure if it's just looking to see
what type of TPC network you have or what - since it can't get past my
firewall anyway, I don't really care.  But I'll have a look at some packet
traces sometime and see what it's doing..

I don't know if there's a relation, but just before it happened, I've
installed WinME.

This behavoiur exists in the retail version - don't know about the warez.
So if it's a can of worms, it's of the Hasbro brand ;)

It's never happened to me and i have Zone Alarm running 24/7. I've
been using the game for about two weeks every day, never seen any
mention of it trying to "call out" in Zone Alarm's logs.

I bought this up Friday and I also am running WinME with the retail copy
of GP3. So maybe WinME is the culprit, why it should do that who knows.

Would be interesting if someone with more knowledge could look at the
logs of ZoneAlarm and see what's going on though.

Nah, saw someone else mention this the other day too. Probably
something to do with MP.

It's probably just checking for any kind of network or communication device,
just like GPL does when you run it.

Yes that would certainly be a reasonable explanation.
Maybe it is doing so much of that checking that the multiplay
can't work properly :-)

Ummm, maybe GP3 really *wants* to go out and play on the internet,
but Sir Geoffrey and Lord Bernie won't let it?  :)

I returned to Win98SE (Counter Strike was jerky with WinME). Now GP3
don't try to access the internet anymore!?!?!?

(Nice feature in WinME to be able to uninstall itself and return to
the previous version. I'm impressed...)
