Which graphics card for PC?

by Barton Brow » Sat, 03 May 1997 04:00:00

I'm putting my first pc clone together (I'm a Mac consultant), primarily
for racing sims: Shuttle Spacewalker HX MB, Pentium 166, 32Mb RAM, 512K
L2 cache, 8X CD, 2 Gig HD, Soundblaster 16 -- nothing special. A friend
who's really into this stuff was very enthusiastic about Sierra's
"Screamin' 3D" board & bundle. After reading these posts, however, I
can't say I get a warm feeling about this board OR Sierra's customer
support.

I just want to run GP2, the forthcoming "vintage" GP sim, maybe ICR2 and
RAC Rally -- so what board should I get?

Thanks in advance

Perhaps you should try the Itergraph Reactor (or whatever it's called
now). Sierra's card is built around the same chipset (the Rendition
V1000). Nascar2 comes with a special executable for this chipset, as
does Indycar2 and some others....Quake comes to mind as well. This
seems to be the chipset of choice for N2....anyone??
