Also look at playing online. There are many, many decent leagues out
there with clean drivers running all the time. That way, you can
avoid the papy pileups.

I got the latest patch from Papy, but maybe I'll give it another go and look
at it over a WC season. The graphics and car dynamics are awesome!
Steve :-)
I did pretty well a whole season of Legends (more difficult than N3) in a
well known off line league (until I realized that everybody else was
re-running the race until it came out OK for them), and had a lot of
problems with the AI that I had to overcome. It just seems that N4 hasn't
progressed in the AI department over the previous versions. Wouldn't anybody
trade graphics for better AI behaviour? What makes a good game nowadays? GPL
sticks in there as the best, with terrible graphics compared to N4.
Steve
mow don't get me wrong, it was great fun and all that, but I had the
impression N4 was supposed to be a one-marginal-error-and-spin-out
kinda thing. are there perhaps any obscure settings I haven't found
somewhere? I mean, my first thought was "am I in arcade mode?", but I
wasn't. and to top it all off, I remember having a lot harder time
controlling the car in the demo...

I have been in an offline league(TPTCC) for years, and somebody early on
gave me some great advice. First the league rules forbad restarts...but
you've already found out folks do it. I was told by a
friend..Kevin.......somebody....
that I should NEVER re-start. Because once the sims online capabilities
improved, like most of them have now, you wouldn't be able to restart and
suddenly the fast rabbits would be crippled ducks. I spent several years
getting mashed and pounded by the aggressive TPTCC AI but I got thru those
years and I feel better prepared to compete with the guys that used to
thrash me offline.

You *should* be able to run Talladega and Daytona flat; the real guys don't lift there either (except to keep from running over the
poor sods in front of 'em, with the current restrictor plate/high-drag superspeedway package). Floor it and steer. Now - guess
which tracks are the most popular? ;-)

Don Burnette
With N4, it uses restrictor plates. So no, you don't have to lift. Not sure
why you're so far off the AI pace, though. I haven't run it in a while, so I
don't remember what my laptimes were. What's the AI strength set at?

Make sure that you have your controller properly calibrated. You may not be
getting full throttle application. Also, I don't know, but maybe the default
Easy car setup for Daytona REALLY sucks? Try running another track also.

btw; I just finished my first online N4-race (first ever, if you don't
count that 10-lap Daytona thing), at New Hampshire, and I didin't even
finish last! and what's more; I now have a brand spanking new LPI of
71.0, which I don't really understand as I had no incidents over a
75-lap race. :)
