Where's my N4 bottleneck?

Where do you think my biggest bottleneck is regarding N4 performance?

P3 733 (oc'd to 781)
128mg PC133
AGP V5 5500
Turtle Beach PCI Montego

I'm planning on upgrading the 733 to 1ghz in a few days.   Do you think
it will make more or less of an impact than going with a new nVidia based
video card?

I'm asking because my framerates are dropping into the ***s pretty
frequently (1024 16bit).

Have you tried running 3dmark from www.madonion.com to see what it
thinks?  It might give an indication of which way to go.

Dan, you make make that machine work for you.

Just a few things..   Try dropping to 800x600x16.

Another thing to try is turn Draw Ahead to about 35%, change it so you only
see 10 cars ahead and 3 behind.  Change mirror settings to Medium, change
world detail to about 40% and put Car Detail at about Medium

I did this running a V3 card and I had 30+fps all the time

Granted its not as good as having a Geforce2 card with max graphics on.. but
it works, does not look too bad and it saves you money

I guess I'll be waiting for my next upgrade before I pick this game up.
I've got exactly the same system and I hate to drop the v5 as 4xAA in
GPL looks very nice.

the V5500, a GeForce2 64 mb card would work wonders, and an additional 128
mb of ram wouldn't hurt.

Adding an additional 128mb of ram? Since when does extra ram speed up
in-game performance?? I can't believe that. It will definitely speed up
loading times and such, but it won't speed up the racing engine. I can't
believe the game is using a swap file while you're on the track and have 128
mb ram.
