On more than one occasion I have gotten a black flag (for speeding) after
being knocked into the pits because of a wreck. I guess the game doesn't
distinguish between a wreck and a pit stop.

Nope, afraid not. It sure would be nice, but what would the code look
like to simulate a real "judgement" call like that? What algorithm will
discern someone taking this as an advatage to gain positions instead of
really avoiding a wreck? However, I think this is one thing that should
be looked into for NASCAR3. As, I have had the same thing happen to me
on occasion. And it sure is a bummer, I mean after all I went through
to avoid being turned into a pile of junk only to be black-flagged.
Happened once to me during the last laps of the race and since you can't
server a black flag penality under the yellow and the checkered came out
while the yellow was sill out, guess what happened....

Nope, it doesn't. We had a discussion about this a few months ago. The
difficulty is coming up with a computer algorithm that can distinguish
between speeding on pit road, and being knocked into the pits, or forced
into the pits (it is legal in a real NASCAR race to speed down pit road if
you are trying to avoid a wreck). In the real race, it's a judgement call
on the part of the officials.
The closest thing I could think of would be to not throw the black flag if
a yellow flag comes out as a result of the wreck and you don't actually
make a pit stop when you come through the pits.
