I have heard the overclocking sites DON"T want to test with
GPL because it is more of a CPU hog than Vid Card demanding.
I'm hoping SOMEBODY gets some testing done...I don't even know
if the card is fully 100% compatible with older programs...
can you say 3dfx RUSH?

Well, it does Glide 2 and 3 so there shouldn't be a problem, but until
someone actually tries it we won't know for sure.  Wasn't the V2 supposed to
be backwards compatible, yet it made GPL crash all the time.

I just found them at www.simhq.com
With frame-rates. Know I want to know: will motion-blur work with GPL?

FSAA will work with any game, but motion blur has to be implemented in
the game. Just like T&L, it will take some time to appear in games.

most likely he was running v1.0 of gpl and that did have some problems
with V3 cards...most likely those were carried over to the V5.  the 1.2
patch of course, addressed those issues.

I compared the 800x600FSAAx4 to the 1024x760 nonFSAA.  I loaded each
into a separate window and flipped between them.  8x6 fsaa wins hands
down.

How much processor will be needed to support a V5 5500?

 Good question.
I asked this in a 3dfx newsgroup and NOBODY replied.
I'm guessing the PII450 and above will see some benefit....
But to really be able to turn on a bunch of FSAA you are
probably gonna need something at or above that PIII 800 area.
Of course the new celeron2 will probably overclock well into the 800's
so there will be at least one lowcost route.

anyone else have a ballpark figure?

Hi!

I don't think that FSAA will need more cpu power. FSAA will only put more
strain on the gfx card. If you run at the same resolution and turn on FSAA the
fps will go down but only due to that the gfx card will not be able to keep up.
This is good for GPL since GPL demands a lot from the cpu but isn't that hard
on the gfx card. This means that there is power avaliable for FSAA IMHO.
