Drviers:

What exactly can you do and not do without the
NASCAR 2 CD-ROM installed.  I found that by moving
the intro.smk (25MB) to the \sierra\nascar2 directory
and changing the N2.bat file to point at it I no
longer needed the file.  I have been playing and
hosting Kali games on the Internet without the
CD-ROM.  What have you all found out...

Some say you cant communicate without it..  I havent
experience that.. Maybe I did more changes and can
pass them on to you...

Don,

Just run NASCAR2.EXE from your NASCAR2 sub-directory.  This works without
the CD, but you don't get to see the cool movie (intro.smk?).   Forget the
N2.BAT.  After seeing it twice, it gets old.  Save the CD, it is fun to
show the movie off to friends!

Don was refering to the ability to "host" a modem or network game without
the CD installed.

Merry Christmas.

Don asked me what I found out about running without the CD and I repsonded.

Don made refernce to Kali games, but did not suggest that he wanted to know
about hosting modem games in reference having the CD-ROM.

Again, he asked what I found out, and that simply is that I get tired of
watching the intro.smk.  And I pointed out that it can be skipped if you
wanted to (as he implied that he copied it to his HD to get the game to run
w/o the CD.

so can you actually host an IPX/Network game without the CD by doing
this?

Thanks!

I believe the instructions say that you *have* to have the CD in the drive
to host a multiplayer game.  It is plainly stated in the README.TXT file on
line 108 (ENGLISH Version).  To play the game solo (i.e. no network/not
multiplayer), you do not need the CD in the drive.  Simply start it using
NASCAR2.EXE (or NASCAR2) from your NASCAR2 sub-directory.

For head to head racing, you need the CD in the server (answer) machine.
