OK, here's the scoop on Daytona USA. Yes, Papyrus does have a
pavillion there. Yes, we did create the Daytona track for the
exhibit. Yes, it's the one you saw on TV.
- This in NO WAY means that we have the rights to use the Daytona
track in the retail game. For the millionth time, Sega owns the
exclusive license to it until April '97.
- This in no way should be construed to mean that we will get the
track after Sega's contract expires. Yes, we are working on it... of
course we are, but we aren't any closer now than we were before
Daytona USA opened.
- The track that we created for the theme park WILL NOT work in the
retail game. I know what you're thinking... "ya, right, Ed... it'd
just be a simple hack by someone to make it work." It's not. I won't
bother getting into the details, but it would take an effort similar
to the infamous "Talladega to Daytona pathes" to make it work. The
exhibit is NOT running the retail NASCAR 1.x product (no, it's not
NASCAR 2 either). It's a special piece of code.
To col seeing Richard Petty driving our stuff. Now if we can just get
him in the NRL!!! :-)
