That's true, but I don't see any reason why they still wouldn't be a
blast.  Sure, the sims are different, but the drivers aren't<G>

If I may hazard a guess, what MadDAWG meant was 'bumper to bumper', but not
'one car on my roof and another one inside my trunk' ? ;-)

Yeah my two statements do kinda contradict each other don't  they. :)  What
I should have said is more along the lines of running side by side for laps
waiting for one or the other to slip. The problem with short tracks online
is most people online is they have this "don't touch me" type attitude which
at short tracks rubbing is racing. Perfect example of this was a race at
Richmond the other night. I follow this guy for about 6 laps. I was close
but wasn't bumping him. Coming out of 2 he gets loose and chases it up the
hill to save it. Of course this is my break and I get under him. we rub but
nothing major. Neither of us spin and all he looses is his position to me
when I bet him into turn 3 nothing more. The next thing I see is all kinds
of #$$ hole coming across the top of the screen. Of course I did laugh when
right after the last one to come across the screen my spotter comes on with
"wreck in turn 1" and next time I go by guess who is all smashed up. Guess
he should have spent less time typing :)

IMHO the prob is that people have deficiencies on the 'running side by side
for laps waiting for one or the other to slip' side <g>

Most races I've seen at Martinsville on Papy servers looked like the world
championship of incompetent driving rather than races. The prob of most guys
at the short tracks is that these tracks are far beyond their abilities,
both in terms of driving (handling the car) and racecraft.

I think btw one should avoid touching another car entirely in online racing,
as warping all too easily creates a mess out of what in real life would have
been mere friendly fender rubbing. But that certainly is a minor prob at the
short tracks for me <g>

Why would you try to type while racing a short track ANYWAY?  Darwinism...<g>

Out of curiosity, what kind of latency did you have? I'm always scared of
ANY kind of contact on line for fear one of us will warp a tiny bit and
cause a massive crash.

Anybody who watches Nascar on TV realizes that on a short track, it's
EXPECTED that you'll have to shoulder your way by sometimes. I'd love to
believe that can be done online but I think the technology isn't quite there
yet (except on a LAN).
