Oh good....Nice going, Dave!

Maybe this means an N2002 mip converter for track graphics will soon be
available and I can fix the graphics for Sears Point in N2002 (which nobody
except those of us out here at Sears who are simmers seem to care much
about....understandable I guess).  Also, maybe we'll finally see some of the
US road courses available with good graphics and a decent car physics to
drive them on?  This can't be a bad deal for N2002 becoming the "universal
sim."  Next....hack the car physics and get the "car modelers" busy on
sports cars!

Of course it was, but with the GPL tracks and the TPTCC patch, it was a
load of fun online :-)

I just tried the converted tracks Silverstone, O-ring and St.Jovite,
and it's ***y fun! About tracks being to big - I can imagine that
the Ring would be too big, but if st.jovite can be converted, surely
Bathurst could be done as well? Here's hoping..

What tracks get converted is entirely up to Dave, but yes, AFAIK
Bathurst isn't too long to make it so there's hope for us :-)

Well I suppose I good follow up question here would be;

Is there any places one could download them *illegally*?)  :)
(anyway - last thing N2002 need imho - is more ovals.)

While I'm at it...  Just a few observations or thoughts on the 'converted'
tracks...

Silverstone:
*Very* good in N2002 - just like I thought it would be.  Seem to be slightly
less grip in this version compared to N4.. Is that so?  (this is good btw,
as the track got buckets of grip and do probably provide too fast lap times
as it is..  A bit exaggregated camber perrhaps?)
Also noticed a few bugs, but perhaps the banked pit road is the worst one..
Seems like you missed a trace there Dave.

Os-ring:
What can I say...  Better than the GPL version!  This should be another very
good track to race these cars at.... it's fast, wide and open.  Grip is
again very good. Atleast it seems like all those 100's of silly trackside
objects (threes) are gone this time - great stuff.... :-)

South Boston:
Pretty useless if you ask me...  it's just too short!

Nashville:
Better than S.Boston......  Reminds me of a cross between Bristol and
Martinsville..  Short track guys should love this one.  Only noticed a few
clippings on the infield and some weird shadowing stuff at the base of the
outside wall...

Trenton:
This track looked very good....  but felt *very* slippery...  I didnt notice
the temp. while i was testing but the grip level felt way too low - Imho.
Mind you I only did a few laps using easy and fast setups, but still this is
the only track I've managed to loose the back end going into a turn at
moderate speed...

St.Jovite:
Great track in real life - utterly useless in N2002!
Why: During my test session my FPS varied from over 100 in turn 1 to 22 at
some spots!  And that was just me, driving alone on the track!
I assue this is due t the hopeless way the track is constructed....  A
billion 3do-objects and lots of wicked clipping and view distances.  At some
places I noticed the shadow of the car disappeared completely as if I were
driving under the track surface...  other spots I saw multiple car-shadows,
however that is possible!  The track also seems to be unrealisticly narrow
at spots.   Then there the bits where you can drive thru bridges and such...
:-(

Cleveland:
Wow this place is big!!  It's so big that I get completely disorientated...
More trakcside objects and such would have helped here. "F10-view" will
probably be a huge advantage here because it so hoplessly hard to get a good
overview of the track ahead.

Bull Run:
This is by far the best conversion of the Track I've seen...  those that got
the track from N4 earlier this week should go back and reconvert it! This
version rocks!  I've only done 3 laps so far, best being a low 1:50...  I
cannot recall how that compare to other version of the track though. A
graphical update for this track would have been great!...  Having said
that...  if someone could have taken the original track - removed /
flattened the wakcy bits (thats those two wildly backed turns) - this track
could be a real winner imho...  it got lots of good overtaking places and
it's open enough to suit these cars...   Dave...?   :-)

Would have been awsome of say Goodwood, Brands, Spa or Kyalami  could be
converted too...  some of there tracks should be real good in N2002 I
think..

St.Jovite had the same problem in GPL. There is a patch for the GPL
version to remove the pit-building and trucks at the s/f line. Did you
apply that to the GPL version? Fixed the GPL version for me, and
allthough I only did a couple of laps on St.Jovite in N2002 yesterday,
I didn't notice any fps problems.
I posted an url for the fix here on RAS a couple of weeks ago, do a
google search if you need it :)

Is it worth digging up my ICR2 cd for this one? I hated Cleveland in
GPL, because it's so flat it's allmost impossible to drive on.

I raced on O-ring untill 4am.. what a marvelous track for N2002!

"Andre Warringa"
It's another Short oval Andre...and it's at the Pits.
dave henrie
(see there used to be this Busch expansion pak which had a whole bunch of
short tracks that were NOT used by the big boys in Winston Cup.  These small
ovals got quite a cult following...racing a short oval is often compared to
a road course since your are almost always changing your lines due to
traffic.  There is a devoted core following for the shorties..or Bullrings
as they are known as)

It's a flatten version of Bristol I think...  Pretty  well made too...

(If only someone could make some real track creation tools for us/me.... -
*sigh!*
