When will it be available in the UK, and will *** Interactive

*** Interactive is the distributor, and they'll determine when it gets
released in the UK (I believe we're shipping it to them at the same time
we're shipping it domestically).

I'd like to commend Papyrus also for holding back on the versions that
just aren't ready yet...very cool.

Now, somewhere along the way I got the idea that the Win95 and DOS
versions were going to be in the same box...there is the very
realistic possibility I was mistaken here (it has happened before :)
) so I was just curious: will there be a reasonable upgrade path to
the Win95 version for those of us who buy the DOS one now?

Anybody know?  Rick?

Thanks!

<snip>

Does it have any special support for the new '3D graphics cards'?
If they are supported, which of them (Diamond Edge, 3D Blaster, etc.)

Is there any performance difference between the Win95 and DOS versions
of the game?  That is, given the same hardware, will the Win95 version
run faster under Win95 than the DOS version under DOS?

Aside from the niftier interface that the Win95 version will no doubt
offer, are there any other features that not be available for the DOS
version but will with the Win95 version?

Lastly, has the driver AI improved much over NASCAR?
<<<

The performance of the native version (Win95 on Win95 and DOS on DOS) seem
to be about the same. It depends (surprise) on your video card. If your
card is supported by UniVBE but not DirectDraw, DOS should be dramatically
faster. If your card is supported by DirectDraw but not UniVBE, Win95
should be dramatically faster. A rough examination indicates that the DOS
version running in a Win95 DOS box (not in exclusive DOS mode) runs about
25% slower than in exclusive DOS mode. Win95 likes to do something with
those cycles. Your mileage may vary.

Currently there are no major features planned for the Win95 version that
are not in the DOS version, although you'll have more flexibility with
Win95 (e.g., since we use the standard Open/Save file dialogs, replays,
settings, etc. can be saved anywhere, not just in the track directory).

The AI has been optimized for a) IndyCar rules and b) road course driving.
The IndyCar AI on a road course is, in my opinion, at least as good as
NASCAR's AI on a road course, and probably better.

Is the french version available at the same date ?
Will the manual be translated in French ?
How could we run on Indianapolis this time ?
Is a P90 enought for the SVGA mode ?
<<<

As I said, I don't know what languages the manual has been translated in
to (but I would assume that French is a high probability). The
Indianapolis track from IndyCar Racing WILL NOT WORK with IndyCar Racing
II. Yes, a P90 is enough for SVGA mode.

I realized that I forgot to answer this part of the message. My
understanding is that all of the localized versions are shipping
simultaneously from the UK on November 22.

Oh dear, I think I just soiled my underwear!

November 22. That's a Wednesday. I wonder when the UK mail order
companies will have it in stock if that's the date it ships to them
from VIE.

Has everyone else in the UK seen the preview in this months PC Zone?

Party In My Pants!!!

So what's the deal with different DOS/95 versions of ICR2? Will they both be out
at the same time? Will you get them in the same box? Can you, cheaply, upgrade
from ICR2 DOS to 95 when it comes out?

If you have to purchase them both then Papyrus is shooting itself in the foot.
I've bought all of Papyrus's games so far and been quite happy, but I will not
be buying ICR2 twice at full price. I reckon most people will just buy one and
copy the other - and if they're going to do that they may as well copy them
both! Get a grip on economics and sell an upgrade for say $10-15 (~GBP10).

the game.
