Thanks for the help, It worked! With DirectX 6 still installed I was able to
just unzip the rkv2.exe file (Reference run-time drivers for W95/98 &
V2,release 2.1, v.1.03.01 from 3Dfx) to a temp file, copy the
glide2x.dll,glide3x.dll, and glide2x.ovl file to the GPL directory and it
worked. I did not have to install or reinstall DirectX. However I found that
with M3d 2, the speed adjuster in the control panel must be kept at the
slowest setting of 90Mhz or anything higher may cause the lock-ups again.
And for some weird reason if you select a higher setting and then try to set
it back to 90Mhz after running GPL, it jumps back up to the higher setting
unless you restart W98 while its still set low. This could cause confusion
for some M3d2 users that think they are at the lower setting but did not
realize it jumped back up when they start the game. I read an earlier post
that said Papy is aware of the problem, but have not seen a post with this
solution at Sierra or any other sight. I dont see why Sierra or someone cant
have just these glide files to download and place in GPL to fix the problem.
Well thanks for the info, now to fix my steering pot that just went bad
(lucky for me I have a spare).
Lutrell :-)
Also copy the
>glide2x.ovl from your Windows directory into the main GPL directory.
