F12K - Silverstone Kerb Inaccuracy where?

[snip]

I don't want to get involved in the rest of this ... um ... discussion (?),
but it does strike me as strange whenever I see or hear people state that
there are only a very small number of people playing GPL.  This isn't a barb
and it isn't directed at you David, or indeed at anyone.  I don't know what
other people's experiences have been, but I've run across all sorts of
people, from all walks of life, that play or have played GPL.  If I'm
talking to someone and the subject of PC games comes up, a large percentage
of the time that person plays or has played GPL.  Given the low sales
figures for the game, I can only presume there must be a lot of pirated (or
"borrowed") copies of the game floating around.

% What you said was that other peoples standards weren't as HIGH as yours, not
% that they weren't LIKE yours. Big difference.

Hmmmmm.... I said that?  That's your take because you seem to have GPL
chip on your shoulder (or so it seems most of the time)....  I think you
are referring to the following comment I made:

"It just didn't cut the mustard....  I like my beer dark and thick
and with alot of taste and others enjoy Coor's Lite.....   I don't plan
to***in their beer because it isn't up to my standards and expect
others to respect my tastes....."

While I may not understand why some folks taste leads them to enjoy
Coor's Lite (and come to think of it, I don't necessarily know why mine
leads me to a good strong stout), I don't think my standards are any
better (maybe a bit more refined, but not necessarily any better).  As I
said, I have not intention of "pissing in their beer" just because they
like something I don't.

Same goes for my tastes and others' in racing simulation....

Your message stated that just because I was a GPL fan, I would
necessarily dismiss any other simulation.  That's not the case, my
tastes and needs are different (which is why I enjoy a good stout or
porter, but will also settle for a fine full bodied IPA).  It has
nothing to do with GPL, but has to do with what I am looking for in a
racing simulation.  It just so happens that GPL is a good strong stout
which I am currently enjoying.  When another racing simulation comes
along that fills my needs and tastes, I'll gladly enjoy it.

If you want to continue to read that as saying my standards are higher
than others, so be it..... (maybe they are <G>), but I am not going to
belittle anyone that likes their racing simulations with a little less
body and flavor....

% In case anyone's forgotten, GPL ran like ***on most everyone's cpu when it
% was released (F12000 runs fine on my 466 TNT2 Ultra right now) due to it's
% graphics engine, had no ff (and we were told by Papyrus employees that ff
% was garbage), and it was designed for LAN play. It took a lot of effort by
% fans of the sim to improve it's TCP/IP play.

And because I liked what GPL offered in its package, I made the
necessary sacrafices so I could enjoy it.  F12K doesn't deliver enough
(with my PIII 650 Voodoo3 3000) of what I want to make it worth making
the necessary sacrafices.... Because even after the paring down, I still
have a sim that doesn't provide what I want and suffers even more so
after some of the tweaks (in my book).

% Trolls? Am I a troll because I disagree on some issues with just some of the
% handful of people left on this planet who still play GPL, and frequent this
% newsgroup?

You are a troll because you keep beating a dead horse and take posts out
of context so you can make the same point time and time again.  Been
there done that.....  You must admit that you are looking forward to the
responses your posts make.... your posts aren't just to inform and share
information but to solicit further response...  While you may not be the
biggest and baddest troll lurking about, quite a few of your posts have
high troll content (again in my book at least).  But, I must grant you
this, you are basically a well mannered and respectable troll. ;-)

(carefully read you last statement..... that's troll fodder....)
