Expanding field size on NASCAR speedways?

Expanding field size on NASCAR speedways?

by Earl » Sun, 09 Jul 1995 04:00:00

I have discovered that by altering the car count in *.txt, I'm able to
expand the field size at Bristol, Loudon, and Martinsville from 33
(excluding the pace car) to a more accurate 36.

My question is, does anyone know if it's possible to expand the field at
all the other tracks from 39 to 42?  If so, how?

Thanks in advance.

I was just fiddling with that tonight...
You can't expand past the existing number of cars in the carset..so you
are stuck at 39. However, note that the pit settings, especially on
shorttracks, and the animation speed, are affected by field size...the
pits get jammed and the passing gets choppy.
I don't like Papyrus's routines on qualifying, as it seems it simply
"chops" drivers and no one past the "chop point" can qualify for a
shorttrack...however, expanding the field messes up the animation
enough that the tracks can be hard to run.
My biggest "Papyrus" complaints are Richmond and C***te where 29
cars seems stupid...but Richmond just doesn't race well with an
expanded field.
