N3 AI Consistency--sim driving experts please reply!

I am having a difficult time with the AI at certain tracks in N3.  I run at
100% and with a decent amount of practise I can keep up with the front
runners at many tracks...as I would expect.  But at some tracks, I can do
very well very quickly and at some others I can't keep up no matter how hard
I try.

What I would like to know is whether anyone can comment on what could cause
this.  Obviously, the Ace set-up could be "better" at some tracks than at
others.  The AI could be programmed to be "better" at some tracks than at
others.  It could be that some tracks are harder than others and my skill is
limiting me (though it seems like some very similar tracks yield quite
different results for me)...and maybe I just need more practise.

For those of you who are way better at N3 than me (and there will be lots of
you), do you also find this discrepancy?  Have you cured it by any of the
above (better set-ups, changing the AI settings in the .txt file, more
practise)....or all three??  Or, so you still find unusual variability?

Thanks.

Marc.

I see your point. I can win every time on Atlanta against 98% AI's, but qualify
last by a wide margin when racing Talledega. I've tried a bunch of setups at
Talledega, but cannot come close to the speeds reached by other cars either on
the straight or in turns. Most of the AI's are 204 to 207 on the straights and
198 to 201 in the turns. I'm at least 3 to 5 mph slower than the AI's and even
accounting for bad driving style, I do make a couple a good laps in warmup or
in a race. Even my best laps are way off the other cars.

Yes I have in the past when I ran an offline league

I would usually lower the AI settings in the .txt file in able to keep
the ai strength at a given percentage. I would lower the RELS in the
.txt file. I have also found that at some tracks, the AI qual speeds
are outrageous so i would also tweak the BLAP setting

Concerning AI at Talladega, I ran the following race:

Race length - 15% (28 laps)
AI - 90%
12 car field
Ace setup

I qualified at 49.01, all the AI qualified 53.xx - 54.xx. I was 4-5 seconds faster
than all cars on the qualifying lap, but when I ran the race, I only had a 3 second
lead after 20 laps, when I quit the race.

I ran another race with the same setup except changing to Michigan track, which was
30 laps instead of 28. I qualified 2-3 seconds faster than all cars, and when I ran
the race, I lapped all 11 cars, the last 7 I lapped twice.

There certainly is some major AI inconsistency in the 2 tracks. Can anybody explain
this?

Well for starters, Talladega is just over a half mile longer than Michigan.
This I feel, is the biggest 'discrepancy' in your results.  Shorter track,
shorter lap, ergo you'd lap more cars.  Not a bug in my book.
