Has anyone used a DSVD modem with NASCAR or ICR?
Please describe how you set up your phone so you could talk and drive
at the same time.
Does it have something to do with the mic and headphone jacks?

Thanks in advance,

Rick

You have a phone plugged into the modem and you talk through it.  I have
a Hayes DSVD and you are supposed to be able to use the MIC and speaker
jacks on it with a cheap headset, but we never got it to work very well
that way.  The best solution is to go to Radio Shack and buy their
headset telephone($69 I think).  It is a complete phone with it's own
number pad, not an add-on headset.  The add-ons are more cumbersome to
use.  The sound quality using this setup is just as good as talking on
the phone.  It is well worth the money if you have any left after
buying the modem.  By the way Best Buy and Micro Center have been
selling
USRobotics 33.6 DSVD modems here in Ohio for $179 if anyone is
interested.

Rick;

Check out

http://www.sequoia-dev.com/Hawaii/latenite.html

This is the home page of a league I race in and it has a great writeup
about DSVD modems.

I know one thing, after reading the writeup I'm saving up for mine.

You can read an article in this months SRN or you can follow the URL in my
sig to an article on DSVD. The short answer is that you use the phone
handset to talk. This can be a problem while you're trying to drive, so I
bought myself a hands-free headset and it works great. Now all I've got to
do is pry my racing buddy free from GP2 so we can race again. <g>
