I was luky enough to score some pavillion passes to the race on Sunday.
This allowed me full access to the garages and pit lane before the race. We
were standing around during driver introductions. While wating to be called
up TS was sitting on the ground by his self and occassionally talking to a
reporter. EC was laughing it up and having a good chat with BR while
waiting. You could feel the tension.
The Infiniti pro race was pretty good as well. Nobody has commented on
that. Jason Priestly of "90210" fame and sometimes lousy broacasting for
ABC started. Tuned him in on the scanner. He was very professional during
the race. He brushed the wall and had to come in for a tire change.
Something not normall done in that series. The crew botched the stop up big
time but JP remained calm throughout.
During the IRL race I was standing atop the terrace, the building behind the
pits. Standing next to me was Tony George and Mary Hulman George. She was
wearing an Ed Carpenter sprint car T-Shirt. Tony was wearing black pants
and a white business shirt. Somewhat overdressed for the heat and humidity.
Also met Eric Bishoff inside the terrace.

to American style open wheel racing. That being somewhat affordable and
oval only. His original premise was to give American drivers a better shot
at making it in the big leagues.
