NASCAR 99 and D3D?

Just wondering if NASCAR 99 was only going to support Rendition and 3DFx
ONLY?  There are some good cards that don't have either chip set.  D3D
works well with many products and allows the card/chipset vendor to
build the drivers.

Will NASCAR 99 have D3D support?  Anyone have a clue?

Nope.  And I don't think I'd hold my breath either, as GPL is 3dfx /
Rendition only, and that's their new engine for everything new coming out in
the next few years (N3, ICR3).  Maybe, with DX 6 and the newer D3D cards
they'll look into doing D3D versions.  I suspect their main concern has been
performance, thus the accelerated versions on the chipsets with native
support, plus they've worked a good bit with these chipsets.

This is the main reason for having a Voodoo 2, even alongside a TNT that may
outperform it in many ways - compatibility.  Maybe it won't be an issue 1-2
years from now, but will be until then.

I read in gamecenter's Nascar 3 preview,  that papyrus wiil implement a D3D
version as well as Rendition and 3dfx.

Cheers.

Nascar 99 is a product of EA.
Nascar Racing 1999 is from Papyrus Design Group.
I hope this will help clear the air.
