I'll take a Mustang II over a 71-73 body style. The only real bright sport
was the 351 C. I'll just take mine in a 73 Grand Sport Torino.  Still
kicking myself over that one. :(   The 70 MACh 1s are my favorite with the
Boss 429 and Boss 302 runner ups. I'd love to get my hands on one of the new
MAChs as well.

So I take it that rule was just for Surfer's then? I have watched alot of
the races lately and I don't remember any curb rules, but I missed the
Surfer's race.

I saw the race at Surfers in TV and they attacked the curbs like hell.
Couldnt see any rules there.

Yep.  If it's a $35,000 Mustang, then it wasn't worth the effort.

I think in the end it was the Insurance Companies that killed the F-Car.

I didn't like the direction they had taken anyway.

I had an '87 Trans Am GTA back when I was in the Navy.  Even did a little
stadium racing with it (I think it was the SCCA that sponsored it).  THAT
was the type of F-Body FireBird I liked, not the rounded off, bug-eyed thing
that it became.  I just wish back then the 350 (5.7 Litre) had more umph.
The '87 GTA was the first year for it.

The racing at the Stadium in San Diego was fun.  All that was required was a
Helmet, a second throttle-return spring and your entry fee :)

Don't feel bad.  When I joined the Navy in 1979, I sold my Mariner-Turquoise
'67 GTO in fine condition because the recruiter said "You won't need a car.
We'll take you wherever you need to go".  ***...

I cringe when I think of what that car is worth today, espeically since it
was one of the VERY rare specimines that had factory 4-piston front disc
brakes.  I was told at a later date that only 252 '67's shipped with that
option package.

I must go cry now :(

Apparantly, by Aussie V8 Rule standards, it means allowing the *** of
your tire to touch the curb in any way, shape or form.

And apparantly it also depends on which driver and team you are...

They were completely inconsistent in who and how they were busting during
that race.

The race at Queensland (I think that's what they called it) that Speed
showed this weekend they were busting drivers like crazy for it.

It was the first of two races they aired.  I believe it was round 11.  The
second race, whatever it is, is on the UTV and I'll get around to it
eventually.

I swear, I thought they were gonna set up a police check-point at one time
:)

Ive seen every race of the 2002-season, but cant remember that. Seems that
the broadcasting channel Motors TV has cut those scenes.

:)

Thanks for the info.
Those rules are really nonsens. Too many rules can destroy racing,
especially if you cant control them properly as it is in this case.

Greetings from Germany

Did I ever tell you guys that my father worked at the local Ford plant in
the late '60s? I believe Peru was one of the fe countries outside the US
where the Mustang was assembled. Heck, we even got some Shelbies...
Well, as the plant was going to close down (after General Velasco's
takeover and 'nationalization' of several companies), they were offering
the employees the Mustangs at a discounted price. And my father didn't
buy one because he didn't like that car, he thought 'the engine was too
powerful for that body'. He should have never told me the story, when I
found out several years later you can guess what my reaction was.
Damn, he likes cars that look 'classy', he bought a new Citroen GSA
Club back in 1982 and the car broke down and has been in the garage for
the past 10-15 years...

My but kicking is much more recent than that, only about 6 months ago.  I
had a guy that wanted to trade me a 73 Grand Sport with 21,000 original
miles for my 95 Mustang. The damn thing looked like it just came off the
line. He even had the original tires!  I didn't go for it because I thought
I was gonna stay in the drag racing thing for a while longer and didn't want
to waste the Torino on that. Well now I have bought a house and decided to
get out of the drag racing (damn games have spoiled me) and a nice mint
condition classic would have been real nice for my new garage.  :(

I saw a very interesting article back when the Mustangs made the big change
in 94. They backed out the cost of the government required emissions and
safety equipment. Then took that price and figured the inflation rates from
64 to 94 and guess what they found.  The 94 was actually cheaper than the
64.  It was pretty eye opening.

I saw one, New Zeeland I think, where one car knocked the tire stack off one
of the corners. Everyone started blowing left front tires after that. They
ended up finding that there was a spike used to hold down those tires that
was sticking up and puncturing the tires. They took a sledge hammer and
knocked it out so they couldn't be too worried about curb hopping.
