I watch actually a race between old 1967 F1 cars with old drivers at
SPEEDVISION. It's very clear that these kind of car were very difficult
to drive with no wing.

And i saw the accident of Jack Brabham with jack Oliver: result red flag.
Brabham hitted the wall very hard... but we know the story now..

With respect, Guy, that is not correct.
You are equating the ease or difficulty NOW with what was experienced THEN
and it doesn't quite work.  By comparing these cars to what was the norm
THEN they were not "very difficult" to drive.  Certainly they were more of
of a challenge to drive fast and smoothly than the cars immediately before
them, the 1.5 litre machines, but they were not the monsters that you seem
to think they were. In fact, there wasn't one GP driver who didn't look
forward to the 3.0 litre formula after five or so years in what one of them
derisively termed "kiddie cars".

The cars that WERE monsters were the Auto Unions and Mercedes of the late
1930s, when they put out more horsepower than the 1967 3.0 litre cars yet
were heavier and rode on less sophisticated suspensions, wheels and tyres.

Okay for that BUT....spririt of 1937 by microprose is a BIG piece of
SHIT....

When I saw microprose on the box i got horny, and when I got onto the first
corner of the first track...CRAP, complete crap, these 1937 cars move LESS
than Schumi's 1999 ferrari after his crash in silverstone....

Sorry it wasn't really the objext of this thread but PLEASE try 1937 before
buying it, just because there is microprose on it doesn't make it good.....

Please Mr Crammond don't do this with GP3

I was watching that too. What really knocked my socks off was the sense of
anticipation I had while spectating. A feeling of understanding that I don't
have with other forms of racing. The same feeling I have when watching a
kart race on TV. A feeling of knowing what they are doing. A feeling of
camaraderie.

Now THAT'S a physics engine!

Was you there Guy?
Greg Renner and I were about 100 yards up the road from the point of impact.
That 25 mins was one of the scariest periods of time that  that I have ever
gone through.

Yeah, that was really ***.  His body really shook like a rag doll on impact.
And his head was slumped over the wheel without moving for quite a while.  I
was glad to know that he was okay before I saw this race.  By the way, what was
he doing in a Lotus?  Couldn't he dig up an old Brabham?

Stirling Moss had a pretty impressive drive during this race.

Another interesting thing from that show was Peter Windsor's description of the
1967 Lotus.  He said that you couldn't change the gear ratios and that the team
carried 15 different gearboxes and changed the whole thing instead!

Sir Jack was driving the McLaren car that appeared at mosport
I think he was driving it because it performs well in the rain. (my guess)
But I believe it was dry for that race.

It was not raining at the time but the track was pretty wet all the same. It
rained the whole weekend and took me a week to hoover all the mud out of the
car afterwards.

The guy is too old to be racing.

Agreed.
At 75 years of age, the guy is still fitter than the average 40 year old
couch potato.
