Rouen-Les-Essarts circuit in place of the (for the 1967 season) Le Mans
Bugatti circuit.
For those of you interested in the Rouen circuit, there will be a map at
the site shown below. If it is not there when you read this then it
will certainly be up within the next hour or two.
In addition to the map there are several photographs of "then" and
"now", plus some words relating to the history of the track.
In the meantime, I would urge you to grab a copy, if it is still
available, of the May 1998 edition of that excellent British periodical,
'Motor Sport', for on page 76 is the start of a great article on the
circuit.......such article being the source of the pix and data referred
to above.
The writer (Andrew Frankel...editor of MS) refers to the circuit as
being arguably the one "that placed demands on the courage and skills of
its drivers that few tracks, if any, could emulate". he includes both
Spa and the 'Ring in that assessment.
One little interesting fact....for Messrs Papyrus to ponder:
The hairpin at Noveau Monde, the lowest part of the track, was done in
cobblestones. Even in 1968, the last time the track was used for a
Grand Prix, the cobbles were in existence.
Have you replicated the cobblestones, Messrs Papyrus....hmmmmm?!!!

Bruce.
