I have a TNT2 but I can only get 640X480 software as an option. The
graphics at this really do suck.  Is there anything I can do? Do I have
to use 3dfx? I installed the 1.2 patch.

Thanks

Best option  buy a 3dfx V2 and stick it in your first PCI slot next to
your tnt2.
2nd option...get the opengl beta patch...should be available at Sierra
or Eagle Woman's site...then be prepared for some registry hacks.
  3rd option.  Buy a V3 or V5 3dfx product.
You can't use the 3dfx option because your card is NOT a 3dfx card.  It
is made by Nvidia and cannot run the Glide 3d api that the 3dfx cards
can.  This doesn't mean you have a bad card, just one that is not tooo
compatible with gpl.

The opengl beta patch is at www.papy.com.  Make sure you read the
readme that comes with it.  You will probably also want to get the
nvidia 3.68 drivers and set buff flip to block transfer.  Then it
should work almost as good as with a voodoo card.

I have a nvidia TNT2 AND a 3DFX

If I run it with the TNT2/OpenGL I get about 26FPS at start
If I run it with 3DFX 2 I get about 36FPS at start and all the time

Yes I have a big machine but the difference will always be there.

Get a cheap, used 3DFX2, it is really worth the 20$ you should pay for it.
