GPL video problem -- slideshow!

by VABergfe » Fri, 10 Apr 1998 04:00:00

I d/led GPL last night and hurridly tried to run it this morning before work.
No go.  1-3 fps. Not only that, but it totally froze once, and upon exiting my
whole system remains slow (Win95 start menus take forever to come up, etc.) and
won't close down propery (I get the "closing down" screen, but it never goes to
"safe to turn off your computer").
System:  P166, 32 meg EDO, STB Lightspeed 128, Monster 3D (1) with 2.43
drivers.

I tried 3dfx mode this morning, I'll try software mode tonight.  Anybody have
any ideas?  Anybody else have this problem?

Make sure the Monster is doing the work.  Your STB doesn't address the 3d accel
modes included in the demo.  You need to be using either a 3dfx or a Renditon
card.  Since you have a Monster, make sure win95 is routing the 3d stuff to that
card.  Check out a util called (I THINK!)  TweekUI.  that should get ya going.
