Screens-

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Features (from the codemasters website)-

-Realistic car mechanics with accurate handling and collisions
-Customisable car set-ups
-Real cars and circuits from around the world and imagery
-Authentic sound recording used for all the cars
-Pit Crew Advice
-Motion capture will be utilised for the story elements within the game
-Visible damage to the cars utilising the FEM system as used by the crash
test industry
-Professional script writers, composers and directors have been used
throughout.

--------------------------------------------------------

Extremely impressive looking screenshots, but given how poor TOCA 2 and CMR2
were is there any chance this will be anything more than a nice looking
arcade game?  Also a racing sim with a 'story' makes me very suspicious.

Nice shots though.

Those shots are absolutely amazing. They put the WSC screens to shame!
I'm like you though Simon -- I just hope the realism and physics are
there. I guess we'll see...

Read reviews of Jarrett and Labonte Racing for the PS One.  This game( TOCA
3) is the sequel to that game.  Great AI.  Very good physics and damage.
All that on a measly PS One.  This was far better than Toca 2.  Toca 3 can
be something special.

Here's a great review from a serious sim racer whose driven at Laguna Seca:

I don't buy it.  specially as they've sprinkled "image shown is of
actual in-game models" liberally.  bet they're ray tracings.

From http://www.avault.com/news/displaynews.asp?story=12142001-91228 :

"All of the images feature the actual in-game car and track models"

Are they just lying?

No, but possibly being very selective with the facts. <grin> That is, the 3D car models
(the geometery) are the same as used in-game, but they have been rendered using a high end
(slow) rendering process.

Now, if they stated that they were "in-game views" or some such, then we would know for
sure that they were produced with the game's rendering engine. They are still pretty
impressive though, definitely going to keep my eye out for further news...

No Todd

They are in game 3d models being rendered, as opposed to in game models
being displayed with the 3d engine.

Ever watched a TV commercial for the console Football games(American
Football)????   You rarely see the realtime game shots, the actual gameplay.
What you do See is a replay mode and those, just like GT 1, 2, & 3 use a
higher resolution mode than the actually gameplay.
I suspect that may be the case here as well.
