Thirty-eight?

That's impressive, it's the highest number of real tracks in a simulation
since Nascar Racing : 1999 Edition.

Not surprisingly since it is the followup to J&L Racing (aka TOCA World Touring
Cars).

Anyone know if the cars will finally be capable of understeer? That would be
quite a nice development . . .

They also said that F1-2001 had a  worldwide release, then we found out that
world wide ment that those in the US had to wait 2 more weeks...hope they
aren't wrong about this as well.

I wouldn't be so sure.  Isn't the game going to be 're-branded' for
different countries?

TOCA Race Driver -> UK and Rest of World

DTM Race Driver -> Germany

V8 Race Driver -> Australia

???

Do you think they'll put *all* the tracks in each version?  Maybe - I guess
we'll have to wait and see.

At the moment, I'm worried about the 'TOCA' (UK) angle.  Some of the tracks
and cars are missing.  The UK series visits: Thruxton, Croft, Mondello Park,
and Snetterton in addition to those which are listed.

The 2001 TOCA 'BTC Touring' cars were:
  Vauxhall/Open Astra Coupe
  Peugeot 406 Coupe
  MG ZS
  Lexus IS200 (privateer)
  Alfa Romeo 147 (privateer)

I'm happy that they are all included, but the 2002 TOCA 'BTC Touring' class
promises more cars, including:
  Honda Civic Type-R
  Proton Waja/Impian saloon
  Alfa Romeo 156 (privateer)
+ more of the same as privateers (incl. 2001 cars)

Will all these cars be included?!  The new Honda looks stunning!

I *really* hope they sort out the missing data, and get that physics engine
improved from TOCA 1/2 - they were dreadful!

I got an email from codemasters a few months ago, as a subscriber to their
newsletter; a questionnaire asking for opinions and choosing multiple
choice answers for things such as the title of the game.  The list of
titles included things like "World Driver" and the like, so a truly global
racing game sounds about right.  I didn't think TOCA would be a good idea,
but they must have decided two successful games in the UK with that title
(3 if you include the PSX TOCA world game) were enough reason to carry on
with the meaningless four letter word.

I don't know about the other things, but they've already modelled tracks
like croft, etc, so it would be a bit of a waste to exclude them?

cheers
John

There was also plenty of understeer on the original TOCA touring cars on
the PSX, although I do remember reading at the time that they moved the
centre of gravity further back in the cars to make them handle easier to
joypad mashing muppets like me :)

Meaningless as in http://www.tocatour.co.uk/

Somebody better tell the AA, their sponsorship dept. seem to think
there is something in it...
