I remember when Sierra put half-life out that to play a multiplayer game on a
home LAN, both computers had to be connected to the internet to verify that you
had 2 different copies of the game. Of course this pissed alot of people off,
becasue alot of people don't have a home LAN with each computer also connected
to the net with its own modem. Well, they patched it to get rid of that ***
and there were no problems.
well as soon as I saw the WON affiliation I got that dejavu. I started up 1
game on the LAN and it seemed to work fine..the host had a CD in the drive and
was connected throught my ISP if it needed WON verification. Everytime after,
I cannot get any LAN game started...host starts fine, but the other computer
either locks up or I ctrl-alt-del and it says "N3 not responding". this
happens whether i use ipx or tcp/ip. So, is anyone gotten to get a 2 player
LAN game going consistently? I always have these problems with Sierra
games..every other company works flawless. I wish they would stop messing with
other developers stuff and get rid of all this Sierra utility/WON
verification/etc stuff. Anyway can anyone think of what could cause this.
Yes, my computers are configured correctly..etc..have no probs except this.
Thanks
