N3 Lan...what's next??

by Ali » Tue, 04 Apr 2000 04:00:00

Ok...I have my two network cards installed with TCP/IP and IPX?SPX
protocals installed..I have a five port dual speed hub between them
and I have the cards connected to the Hub...so ..How do I get the
cards to "talk" to each other??? Does someone have a website with some
simple instructions on how to set this up??? Or maybe an easy to
understand text file they could send along?? THANKS...

If you can access both machines from the other, than you are ready to start
installing games to play over the LAN

If they can not see each other, then make sure both have the same Workgroup
name.

Personally I also use Client for Microsoft Networks

Ali,

It is really simple to set up :-

just plug the cards into the hub with some CAT 5 cable

AND set up the cards to have a similar IP address (in the TCP/IP settings)

 eg.  Machine 1 - 193.168.0.100
        Machine 2 -  193.168.0.101

put both Subnet masks to 255.255.255.0

They should both see each other....(you will need to restart both of them!)

Start up a game on one of them and you should see it on the other.

Good Luck and happy racing!
