Hi!

Here are my first impressions of this "sim":

- Slide show on P133 with Diamond Monster 3D
(bad w/o traffic, really bad w traffic)
I definitly would expect smoother framerate
on the above equipment. Maybe the promised
optimisation didn't get into this demo?

- Gas/breaking: for me it's just a little better
than Formula 1 from Psygnosis. You just can't
break into a corner smoothly. Maybe it's me
but very often I suddenly come to a complete
  stop before the corner...

- Opponents smash into you from behind, they
  seem to be blind...

Well, I hope it's a beta and not the final demo.
To me it's just not a sim.

Concerning the controls I just saw a setting (cannot
be changed like all other options) which says: Facile.
I guess this is the easy (arcade) mode. So there is
still hope for a more realistic setting...

Hmm, I think on the second menu after entering the game.
On top and in the middle of the screen it says "?????": Facile
I guess that's the french word for Easy.

Yeah impossible for me to drive the first chicane with a 4mb 3dfx.

The breaking on this game has something seriously wrong.
It takes forever to brake. Formula 1 for psygnosis is alot better,
that lets you break late and smooth . I set up a test, i ran down the
back straight with ubisoft f1  and started to break before that bridge
(way way too early) and that wasnt enough, i went flying off the
circuit at the corner.

Couldnt go near opponents, my machine would go to 1fps :)

Could be a sim if they fix the breaks etc, but i guess this is a very
old demo.

Hmm, I didn't notice any real slowdown on my P200MMX 3dfx except when crashing -
even then it only slowed for a plit second.

Yes! And acceleration is slooooow as well.
The cars just don't feel 'alive' like they do in GP2.
The handling is closer to Psyg. F1 than GP2 but the graphics are amazing,
although again I think the cars in GP2 have yet to be beaten.

We'll just have to wait and see what the final version is like - this looks very
promising but no GP2 killer.

Well Im not so sure that the braking is so far off...I think GP2 was
unrealistic as far as braking distances go. My education on this was
watching in car of Senna braking for the first corner in the Brazil
GP...he starts slowing down much earlier than I had to in GP2 so we
might have unrealistic expectations of how fast its possible to brake.
