UBI SOFT F1 Racing Simulation DEMO first impression

I got the demo off a site last night. Full of e***ment I downloaded
the 5 files, wondering why the files were renamed to
F1schrott.*(meaning F1garbage in german). Anywyas once the download
was complete and the game installed it was clear to me that this game
is garbage. The car sound or whatever you want to call this unbearable
noise made me get rid of this game after 3 laps. It sounds like
someone digitzed a dental-drill rather than a Ferrari V10 engine. What
a load of bullshit, programming companies are still incapable of
bringing us real solid F1 sound!!!!!!! The graphics are the only
positive point I could find. The physics engine is below par and is
not even a close match to GP3. There is no physics engine. Its arcade
and has nothing to do with a simulator.
Unfortunately my experience playing this game was a bad one, I hope
you have more luck. I'll keep on waiting.......
Let me know what you think.

That's why he call it his first impression.

Like many sims F1RC may need some tweaking to match both your preferences
and your system setup. Unlike consoles few PCs are the same.

My first impressions were low in terms of the way it drove. However, after
some tweaking with the steering settings I am happy with it. I changed the
steering to exponential, deadzone to zero and the throttle & brake to
linear. This is my preferred setting. After GPL where more linear steering
gave better feel this seemed the incorrect thing to do. I guess you just
have to try rather than rely on pure logic.

I find the throttle control excellent (unlike some others where it is very
difficult to get a good throttle range).

The physics give plenty of feel and some due warning things are going to
snap. As in GPL I always know I have done something wrong if I lose control
(which I do!) whereas I have been frustrated in other sims where I couldn't
feel I had done something wrong due to the over sensitivity of controls (or
my incompetence).

I don't dislike the sound as much some others - but hopefully it can be
altered via the sim community.

I have high hopes for this...

I just got it today (Mon) off a group.  After wrestling with the
interface a bit, and tweaking the controller settings a lot, I finally
came to the point where I could drive it.  I agree on the sound, it's
terrible.  The graphics were surprisingly good and 1280 ran well on my
733/V3, which was a shock.

It will be hard to give a fair evaluation without being able to play
without helps (40% ABS and 40% anti-skid is as advanced as it gets)
Spa seemed well modeled, with realistic chicanes.  The sound, while
bad, did give indications of wheelspin at times.  The***pit is
poorly done, but it is nice to have so much info on the screen about
splits, etc., compared to GP3.

I'm going to withhold judgement until the game comes out.  I didn't
like GP3 at first either, but it grew on me.  Plus, hopefully this
game can be modded like all the others to make it more playable.

Except for the sound, I -love- it.
Imho physics are MUCH better than GP3.
Funny how opinions about realistic physics can differ :)

Graphics are worse that GP3? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH Now that is funny! GP3
has some of the worst graphics in the modern F1 genre. Go look at EA's
F1cs2k if you wanna see how graphics are supposed to look. GP3 looks like
software mode when compared to it. GP3 is a decent sim but EA's latest one
beats it (except for weather).
