First of all, thanks to everyone for their help and suggestions. I learned a
lot from each of them. After trying the suggestions I had given up on Win 2000
and reinstalled 98. Same problems. Then I had the bright idea (duh) of changing
the ram out. Had 128meg DDR but never checked it. Replaced it with a spare
stick of 128 meg sdram and lo and behold games runs great. Need another 128 and
then looks like I'm set. Don't think I'm gonna run Win 2000. 98 works fine for
what I do. Thanks again all and look forward to seein ya on the track. N4 name

First of all system is:
ASUS A7A266 MB flashed with latest bios
AMD Athlon 1200-266 mhz processor
128 meg DDR ram
Nvidia Geoforce 2MX 64 meg Vid card
Compac DVD Rom
Mitsumi  CD Writer
Soundblaster PCI sound card
CPU fan-video card fan-extra case exhaust fan
TM Pro digital wheel  USB- patch from TM site installed
Alcatel Speedtouch USB DSL Modem
Win 2000 OS
Problems: N4 video will freeze after 10 mins or so but audio continues as if
nothing has happened. Nothing like hearing my spotter ask if I'm allright 10
sec after video freeze. Must manually reboot system to continue. Followed Tom
Pabst's Nvidia Video card setup guide and am getting 50-90 fps when running. As
mentioned, extra fans all around and side off case off. MB temp stays around
130c. Non N4 problem is that this thing will reboot at will. Can just be surfin
the web and all of a sudden it reboots. Same has happened running MS word. Also
froze when arranging Icons on desktop!! I've had a three day headache putting
this thing together. What have I obviously overlooked? Any known problems or
ideas appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan
