N2: Trying to improve Pace Laps..

I'm hoping the gestalt entity that is RAS can help me out with this.
:)

In my quest for a bit more realism out of NASCAR2 I've been fiddling
about with the GFLAG value in the tracks text files. Here is an
example of my problem which appears to happen every where.

I took the GFLAG value out of North Wilkes for N1 and placed it in the
Wilkes.txt for N2.

In practice, the pace car would take the cars on to the backstraight
at pace speed and then peel off. As it pealed off it starts to
accelerate managing to get up to 65 I think, from 35 pace speed. In
turn, all the AI cars follow suit, but on the track of course. :)

As the pace car enters the pits he suddenly remembers the meaning of
"pace" and jumps on the brakes back down to 35 far to quickly. Both
queues of cars make this impossible speed reduction which means the
player will wreck or have to stay out of formation.

So, can anyone help me? If the pacecar keeps to pace speed on the
track and in the pits, is there anyway to make him peel in at the last
moment? Which files (values) control this?? If that is impossible then
how do you rid this speeding up after he's moved out of his position
infront of the front row??

I hope someone can help out here. I feel it's much better to see the
green flag fly as the pole-sitter gets closer to the tower, rather
than just after the pacecar pulls in....

Thanks in advance,
