Well, that might make it almost worthwhile. I don't have a DVD player right
now, except for my laptop computer.

Liar. The only reason the steering wheel centers is that the AI is ramming
you from left _and_ right.

They also ram you front and rear, so you are basically packt like sardines
in a crushd tin box

If I wanted to go sightseeing, I'd hop in my car. If I want to drive
fast and do so safely, I'll take a simulator with an accurate physics
model and okay graphics. GPL is the sim of choice (the graphics are
actually outstanding and the FPS is more than adequate... even on
starts)

The DVD player is an average unit. It has no special features and no
great strengths. It does play DVD's well enough however. If you are
building a Home Theatre type system, then it is greatly lacking. If,
however, you merely wish to view rented DVD's much like a rented VCR tape,
then it works just fine.

Yes, it does have on screen controls. When the official Sony remote
comes out in Sept., there will be new drivers that should add more
features.

I have a PS2 and the DVD is average and a pain in the ass to use. The remote
I bought sucked, the on screen controls are ok, but not so user friendly.
Also it has a loud fan and would have some problems playing DVDs. I rang
Sony and they advised me to go in change a setting relating to the speed it
plays them.. I had to do this every time I played a DVD! I have since bought
a seperate DVD which is much much better.

I have yet to have any problems playing any DVD's so far. The picture
quality has been excellent compared to VHS movies, and it has never had any
of the random problems I have had with DVD on my PC.
Sound quality has also been first rate.
