I> >Ugh I really don't hope that.  Low-polygon models,

do not think that ymenard has actually seen this game in motion or played
it first hand. The models are in excess of 4000 polygons each.

There are about the same level of jaggies as in GPL without 2x antialiasing.

Not at all in GT3, you must be looking at GT1 or GT2 running on a PSX.
The car reflections are picture perfect in GT3 and not exagerated at all,
better than in any racer out there.

Agreed, wish I return it.  It is a GT ripoff, pure and simple.  But, aside from
higher res anti-aliased graphics, it appears worse in all facets.  And even the
graphics advantage isn't a slam-dunk as they use a standard (ugly) color pallet
for each car and somehow all the cars come across looking like lumpy clay
models..

Ditto, but again, bought and wish I hadn't.  Again, the cars just don't look
real.  Nevermind the physics.  And the gameplay is boringly repetitive and only
difficult due to how the AI racers cheat (accelerate to hyper velocities when
behind).  Last, the hyped "features" of the game (real-time clock and "radio
station" music) are of no interest to this sim-player.

I find it is very easy to get power oversteer.  OTOH, the g-limit seem much too
high on the oval track (forgot its name).  Also, the AI cars do strange things
in this one too.  Also, the high friction coefficient when you rub the wall is
annoying.

To me, the greatest shortcomings are the usual ones on console racers: too
limited field of cars & AI that isn't up to PC standards.  This one is also
limited by the one car nature and limited number of tracks (but what a car and
very nice tracks!).

I'd say better.  You get a much finer feel for what is going on with the
chasis.

It does?  you sure?  I read somewhere that it only supported the
link-cable-thing, which is only available in Japan I believe.

I've read a lot of strange things, though. :)

uh...  1000+ polygons per car translates to low-poly models?

riiiight <roll eyes>.  I've seen better car modeling in most of the PC
simulations.

antialiasing.

In 640x480.  So why people crave about the beautiful graphic quality?

GT3 is ultra-reality, but it's a fine and enjoyable arcade-sim game.  Tons
of fun.

I am waiting to buy the PS2 version of Lemans, which seems to be getting
high marks on Previews of this version at *** sites. Mostly better
graphics and similar overall qualites to the DC version.
But at $29 for the DC version I have been sorely tempted.

You can get that on the PC too, is the DC version better or something?
Because I heard the PC version is crap.

I've tried every version there is.  The DC version was very good.  The
PC version and the PSX version were done by different developers, I
believe, and it shows.  The GameBoy version was nice, but it was hard as
hell.  The PS2 version which is due out by the end of July should blow
them all away.  It is being done by the same team as the DC version, and
there are many improvements.

Project Gotham for Xbox is going to have 16,000 polys per car along with CAR

it's not the same game.  at all.  the PC version _is_ a load of
shite.  the DC version is pretty damn good, though.

[BTW, how does one add an attribution line to the crappy AOL newsreader??]

I thought about it, but is it really *that* much better than the PC version
which I opted to pass on?  I've heard it is, but enough to warrant purchasing?

I don't mean this as an aspersion, but I suspect that there is a tendency to
"settle" for lesser games on the console simply because there are less quality
sim titles there.  For instance, I would *never* have considered purchasing MSR
if it was a PC title.  The only even half-similar game I have purchased was
NFS:PU (which I did enjoy, and no I really don't mean to lower it to MSR
standards).

I'll never buy a console system. Except maybe a PS/2 because it does
DVD too.

The "watch it's" at least kept me from driving the hell-bent crash into the
wall and each other in GT/GT2.  But that was about all it had going for it.  I
wanted to play it long enough to get the Speedster (I work with Opel guys, have
driven an Elise, but haven't managed a TD in a Speedster yet).  But I wasn't
going to put up with the game any longer

[re: TD Lemans]

Hmmm, what do you really think?
F355 is why I bought the DC.  Hmmm, Tokyo eh?  Okay, well, when TD Lemans hits
the bargain bins (not too long given the DC's future), I'll get it.

Here's a recommendation for you (though I'd bet you've acted on it):
Bleemcast.  Really breathes new life into GT2.  Alas, the DC controller is
nowhere near as good as the little Interact Racer hand-wheel I got for the PSX.
