Burnout help!!!

I got it today and pretty much love it!  I've played it just as much as
Janes F-15 which I also picked up today (EB's $60 bucks for both after 2 $10
mail in rebates... pretty damn good :)

Anyhow, when I start a race and am in the bleach box to do a burnout, I hit
the enter key and turn on line-lock.  The car is in 1st gear and I gun it.
It got of hobbles up past the christmas tree with a burst of smoke here and
there.  I know it auto mode it'll burn out like it should, but I WANT TO DO
IT (whaaaaah!)  ha ha :) .   And also that transmission lock thing, I know
on staging and waiting for the green light, I use it then with full
throttle.  No prob.  Well, when going down the track the engine NEVER
reaches a very high (sound wise) roar.  It's always so low pitched and
doesn't seem like I'm going fast at all (usually around 125).  I know I
should be going near 200 MPH.  Don't any of the preset cars go really fast?
I just want to go go go and not spend a lot of time tweaking...

LOVE THE GAME though!  I've had some great crashes.  One time I purposely
left before the green light, went into my opponents lane and slammed into
the wall (wanting to see how he'd react to my being there).  He came
barreling down and SLAMMED into me!  It was soooo cool.  I really didn't

it runs super smooth (and Voodoo 1 of course).

Pete I get the same exact thing. This reminds me of X-Car in a way. I
want a very good setup right out of the box just for the sake of seeing
if this game rocks or not. I know my setups right now are horrendous but
I have a gut feeling even a good setup isn't gonna be very fullfilling
in the adreneline department. The sensation of speed is terrible and the
engine sounds are just as bad. Now the question is why go to all of this
trouble and then make the actual race a bit of a letdown this should be
fairly easy to do after X-car?

To give the speed sensation a quick kick in the pants they need a point
of view variable like quake (fov 120) or so. This would at least give
the user a great speed sensation without messing up the timing of the
game. Why the engines revs like it's only running on a few cylinders is
beyond me, unless it is only running on a few. Then I come back to my
first question why not have a very good setup out of the box so we can
judge this game. As it stands this is gonna go back like X-Car unless I
can get a real high revvin beast. I wan't a killer drag game badly if
this fails we only have NHRA left.

I agree.  What someone needs to do (who has a killer setup that goes well
over 200 mph) is share it with the rest of us who want a quick thrill, and
are not out to compete in the internet ladders.  I just wanna see this thing
scream!!!

Btw, I setup the Quaker funny car with a 12 cylinder engine and it works!

Pete

My top speed so far is only a measly 150 ish or so.

a page does have user setups there, there are a couple right now, but will
be increasing in time. Some 3000+ funny car setups pulling 250mph and up.
look into it at http://www.racesimcentral.net/***.com/burnout/

I bought the game too but passed on F15 temporarily.

I found that when you select AUTO burnout/stage, you never actually
see your car doing the burnout. You just stage. Kind of BS if you ask
me. Also, I notice that the Line-Lock doesn't seem to do much.
I still roll forward and never do break the rears loose. I'm kind
of PO's about that and ready to return the game :-)

My best so far is 7.011 with a Top speed of 188. The trick is to
lower your gear ratios so that your engine can wind up. This is
actually quite tricky. I have been working on a Funny car and am
using a 2speed Auto trans. I had to customize the gears to get
something reasonable. Oh and your not going fast at 125 so
that part seems correct :-)

This is because you don't have a good setup yet. And it is quite difficult.
When you do get something fast is is quite a kick.

Depending on what type of pile of junk you have for an engine (hehe) this
complaint is quite believable. Besides, normal FC ot TF engines always
sound like ***until you wind them up.

I guess I am curious how REALISTIC it is to build a 55 Chevy to
perform like this? As far as I know the only cars that have any
hope of these type of numbers are TF & FC's. WTF? If I am
correct (and I think I am) this is another flaw with the game-
possibly a game buster.
