Iain,

Yes, it's without the rmoveme.

Re-installed and added some braking power using F1RCMaster and I've
minimised the amount of punting. Admitedly it is cheating but there's
just no chance that I can brake as deep as the AI and still make it
around the corner. It's a clean install with the KI patch that was
apparently originally from a review copy. With the exe on the CD, I
get dumped to the desktop 4 out of 5 times. I've upped my cars braking
power from 17000 to 19000 and the AI is still able to outbrake me and
keep the car stable, but I don't think I've been punted in which I hit
my braking point perfectly without making a mistake.

David sent me a copy of a replay that he had recorded and his braking
points are similar to mine but I was getting punted and run into where he
doesn't. I'm also using the Williams which lacks straight line speed
over most other cars so I have to brake REAL deep in order to win
the corner. The AI never seems to concede a cornet if I've not
completely dived under the AI.

I'm going to try the install without any new car sets or tweaks and
see how I fair.

Cheers,
Rod.

thanks for the info regarding the Nascar race(and to you to Thom).  we
only have espn (one channel).  hope they cover the nascar race.

my predictions about the f1 were wrong, but hope i can salvage
something out of the cart race :)

I don't know what TV coverage you guys in South East America get, but the
Nascar Race is broadcast on the Big over-the-air network, NBC.  Starts in
less than an hour.
Perhaps ESPN has an international contract, but I doubt it...they can't even
show Nascar Highlights on thier nightly racing news show because it
conflicts with the same kind of show on the FOX network.

I re-sent the replay earlier. Did you get it alright?
Dave's replay was fine as you say, and you'll find that mine is pretty
perfect as well.  It's strange is it not that you have the same braking
points as Dave and me, but you get shunted and we don't!  This is clearly
indicative of the problem that exists on this group, some have a problem and
others don't.  We still don't seem to be any closer to a rational
explanation for this! Any ideas?

well, here in South America (were we had apartheid, remember!), there
won't be any nascar on local tv.  maybe highlights later in the week.

enjoyed the cart race, except for some stupid driving that shows how
realistic F1RC's is :)

Maybe it's somehow 'processor' specific?  I dunno, that was all I could think
of...

Iain,

I received your email but no attachment. ;(

When you look at your replays, do you find that the AI brake
alot deeper into a corner and they appear to trailbrake well
into the apex of the corner? If I attempt the same, even with
ABS on 100% I can't hold the car on the track, I'm into the
kitty litter. Now, if I'm approaching a 1st gear corner and
being tailed by an AI, I'll hit my braking point and just get
through the corner and I'm whammed from behind by the AI going
deeper into their braking point as if I wasn't there.

I've used F1RCMaster to up the power of my brakes from 17000
to 19000 and I can aleviate 95% of the punting, but I'm artifically
a touch faster, but I am running the Williams without altering
the settings on the car so I'm giving away at least 10kph on any
straight. ;)

Cheers,
Rod.

It might be helpful to install the helicopter view in order to see braking
points by yourself and the AI. I haven't installed this yet, but it sounds
easy. I got this from the HG forum:

"New Helicopter View in F1RC
You have to use the F1RCMaster v.1.2. (now v.1.3)
1o open the Cameras Editor and Import the actual values
2o Select the Chase 1 (F2) camera
3o change the next values:
Y-position=61.xxxx
Z-position=22.xxxx
Angle=0.19xxx
Pitch=47.xxxx
4o Export the changes

This camera view is good for the replays, the exit and the overtake
manouvers specially, but not for driving. Well, if you liked Micromachines,
for driving too...

Note: it's very important set the distance view to Maximum (1500 meters).
Some textures aren't showed in the zones that the Graphical engine of the
game "believes" that you aren't viewing anything at this moment... It's a
tip for accelerate the rendering, I guess... "

Well Rod, I don't really have the problem you describe as I'm sure you can
see from the replay which eventually did get through.  I don't really have
the 'shunting' problem in any corner unless I have made a mistake.
