Keep this thread going guys.  Its very entertaining.  Its been a while since
something has really amused me in this ng.  I check the group daily just to
see threads like this one.  It starts my day with a good belly laugh.

That won't work due to the nature of news servers.  Threads could
drop off in a matter of hours. It's not like web-based BBS's...

Anyway, the point is fairly moot for the reasons I (and others) have
already stated.

Actually, no - it only seems more polite because most BBS's are
monitored and contolled by a small group of thought police.
Everything is watered-down and sugar-coated to the point that if you
held everyone's personality up to the light, they'd all be
transparent.

You might think that's fun, but I kind of enjoy the periodic anarchy
that overwhelms usenet once in a while.  As long as you're
sufficiently self-depricating, everything remains cool, albeit on the
edge of chaos.

It was not spamming. It was an attempt to get members attention
because they ignored the all-for-one version of the same message
posted earlier this week.  And you know what? It worked.  Nearly
everyone has responded with their Sierra ID.

I'd just like to say that personally, I enjoy reading the RASCAR threads even
if I don't race in it--there's usually something interesting/funny/whatever
buried in them.  :)

Boy, you sure got that right!

Interestingly, and well put I think :)

Are you holding a grudge against a moderator?
Do you really think a persons personality is the ability to fight verbally?

The moderators are there to prevent guys from driving in the wrong
direction, and restrict wreckers ability to ruin for others.

I don't drive Super Speedways on open servers.

True, but I've been involved with good leagues with capable
administrators that didn't feel like they were obligated to act like a
jerk in public.

IMO, I didn't think the RASCAR posts were out of line, but John is
completely over the top (and not the first time) in his reaction to
criticism.

a motor car and racing would not exist as a sport." -- Jim Clark

He's talking about moderated online BBS's, not the race track :)

But like I've already said (at least twice) - I was fine until about
the 20th "me-too" complaint.  For anyone that knows me, that's way
past my usual point of tolerance for bullshit.
