If you have one of the GP1 wheels that do not require an adaptor to work
in Win95 programs, I don't think the CH pedals will work. However, I
think that if you get an adaptor from Thrustmaster, that using it will
then re-switch the unit so you can use your CH pedals. The following is
a Tech report from Thrustmaster so you can tell if your unit requires an
adaptor.
Technical Bulletin April 24, 1997
IMPORTANT! Converter Not Needed for GP1's manufactured since December
14, 1996!
This technical bulletin applies only to GP1 Driving Wheels. Please
reference the date code on the bottom of the steering console.
If the number for the date code is less than 961214, (in other words, if
the GP1 was manufactured before December 14, 1996) use the setup
information that exists in your GP1 manual and FYI sheet.
If the number for the date code is 961214 or later, (in other words, if
the GP1 was manufactured after December 14, 1996) the converter is no
longer needed, and is NOT supplied in the box. The GP1 now connects
directly to your computer's gameport as shown in the installation
diagram in the manual.
**Note: the date code consists of six numbers. The first two numbers are
the year of manufacture (961214). The second two numbers are the month
of manufacture (961214) in this case the 12 month or December. The last
two numbers are the day of manufacture(961114) in this case the 14 day.
The proper translation of 961214 is December 14, 1996.

Here is how I got my GP1 Wheel and CH Pedals to work
together in Cart Precision Racing:
Hardware:
SB 64 AWE Joystick port
Thrustmaster GP1 (older style requiring axis converter)
CH Rudder Pedals, set to "car"
In the Game Controllers Control Panel:
Choose 4-button flight yoke w/throttle
Under Properties, check of rudder/pedals
Calibrate
In CART Precision Racing
Under Control Options, choose Race Car Controller
Under Customize Controller, choose Use Throttle Control
This setup does not use the paddles at all.
Everything now works just like it does in GP2, ICR2 and
NASCAR2.
I haven't tried many other setups, but this is the only one
I have found so far that does what I want.
Now if I could get the gear changes on the paddles, I would
be a really happy user!

Howdy folks,
I have the GP1 non-adaptor-type and the CH pedals hooked together on my machin
and they work very well together. I don't recall having done anything special to
them. I am running Direct-X 5, if you think that makes any difference.
The one thing I did do was rotate the pedals 180 degrees to sit more like the
pedals in my car. Take the bottom off the base and the covers off the foot rests
and swap the wires from one pot to the other (I don't remember the order). Then
go down to you local hardware store and pick up some 1-inch wide and 5- or 6-inch
long (per leg) L-brackets, and some screws.***the L-brackets to the base with
the cord pointed toward the floor, set the unit against the wall or a box and
drive on. I much prefer the hinge point to be above my toes instead of under my
heel. Like I said earlier, it makes the feel of the pedals a lot more like my
Honda-car. Oh, I also stuck a couple of small screws in the heel rest and the
base directly forward of them so I could hook some *** bands on to change the
tension of the pedals. In this position, the springs are to light. Any questions
I could maybe hash out something that resembles a drawing of the mod.

Hi, thanks for your message dd. December 28th 1997,
That's the point, I think. I tried this too (and did it again after your
message) but, no way. My ex-GP1 didn't need the adapter so I sold it and
bought a Formula T2. I am going to modify it, adding two buttons on the
wheel (see http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Peaks/8233/ ) and, for
sure gotta do something with pedals since I would really like to use my
"old" CH.
Good driving everyone,
Francesco
