GPL is far superior to F1 2000.  Actually F1 2000 is rather
poor.  You will be racing GPL long after everyone has forgotten
about F1 2000!

F1 2000 is very poor.  The track layouts are just plain wrong in some
places.   The AI cars ram you all the time.  The grahpics look a mess and
the engine is very slow.  It was obviously rushed out to catch the start of
the F1 season.   Also you can do doughnuts in gravel traps!  It's lacking
quality in almost every area.
GPL is probably the greatest computer game and also probably the only
accurate PC motor-racing simulation ever produced.
And thats my honest opinion...
Simon.

Chris, you really _MUST_ learn to use the phrase "in my opinion" when you
either commend or denigrate games.
What is, in your eyes, a load of old boots just might be somebody else's
nirvana.

Remember......it's all a matter of _opinion_. :-)

Isn't the "IMO" phrase automatically implied in every post?  :-)

GPL by a long shot (but I do enjoy a bit of F1 2000 now and then).

Err... this is just my opinion, of course.  :-)

In my opinion I think most people take posts as only the opinion
of the poster. <G>

I get your point though.  I will try:)

I have them both and while I "prefer " GPL I am still pleased to have
F1-2000 on my harddrive.   Both are challenging enough to keep my interest .
GPL is the more mature product with all its patches and player made fixes
and is the more "playable" (for lack of a better word) of the two on my 433
mHz --V3-3000 machine since F1-2000 has heavier CPU requirements.  F1-2000
could use a patch or two (mainly to AI and frame rate issues)to get it to
top of the heap status for me. The fact that F1-2000 models the current
racing season adds a real element of interest for me since I can prerun the
tracks that the real racers are about to run on. Certainly theres more
passing in F1-2000 then there is in the real race :)
Since GPL is getting pretty cheap now ,assuming you can find it at all, try
them both out and decide for yourself . I like them both for different
reasons.

F12K is a computer game. GPL is the One True Faith. No contest really,
is there? :-)

I prefer GPL as well, imho nothing has come close to it, however I don't
think F1 2000 is all that bad. I have had some really good races with the ai
without any adjustments to them. I can't speak for the track accuracy, as I
just am not that familiar with F1 tracks. I do think they are fun to race on
though. The graphics is certainly a hog, I agree the sim was probably rushed
out which kept them from tweaking and tuning that graphics engine for better
performance. I turn some details down, get a framerate I can live with , and
run it.
Side by side, GPL wins hands down.  However for a modern day F1 sim you can
have some fun with , F1 2000 may satisfy that need until GP3 comes along.
And who knows what GP3 will bring.  It may be as bad or worse a graphics
hog, hopefully not.

If you want the most realistic driving game available (takes a lot of practice
to go fast without going off the track) and you dont mind (or like) that its old
1967 Formula 1 cars and tracks then get GPL. Has the most realistic Force
Feedback effect also.
If you like modern F1 cars and tracks and want something thats a bit more fun
than realistic, then get F1 2000. Force Feedback is not so good.

I like them both, but I have been playing F1 2K lately.
