Here's the scenario:

League race at Michigan 90 laps.  Running 4th rs tires fading lap 43.
All but first four have pitted and are laps down.  Praying for the
yellow.  It comes out great!!  Make my pit stop come out still in 4th
ready to finish race.  Pace lap at 70 mph coming out of four and WHAM
shoot into pit wall for no reason.  Extensive damamge engine included.
Race over for me.  I had made chasis changes and could have pressed for
the lead.  Oh well.  Has anyone ever had this happen to them????  Any
explanations Ed?  I saved the replay clip of the incident.  Pretty
frustrating to say the least he said with a :-).  Thanks

Mike Bruno,

I saw this occur to you when I was coming out of turn four pretty
far behind you. Seems as if there is some kind of a glitch at this
track as I have also had this occur to me during practice. Always
seems to happen just before the start of the pit wall.

Another wierd thing that happened during that same race went like
this: I was about 2 seconds behind a car going onto the backstretch
when all of the sudden the car in front disappeared and reappeared
spinning out right in front of me! It happened in about less than 2
seconds then all of the sudden it returned to its original position
way up ahead of me. Man was my heart pumping! Oh well, guess it's
just one of them racin deals.  :)

Ed or anyone else,

Could anyone help give me a good ini. string for a Best Data 28.8
modem?  I always have a poor connection when I connect to Hawaii.
I use ATZ and have also tried lowering the connect speed. Thanks
in advance!

Sincerely,

After reviewing the replay frame by frame it seems that I warped up to
the start/finish line past the pace car and then came back.  In the
interim it seems that I hit a phantom car that caused the sideways slide
into the wall.  Oh well :-).

You got HOGGED. There's a bug that teleports your car to another part of
the track (usually the s/f line) for one frame and then back where it came
from. At that point, you usually slam into a wall at several hundred miles
per hour, your engine blows from over-revving and little bits of metal and
fiberglass fly all over the place. However, you can get some awesome lap
times that way, I've got a 200+ lap at Rockingham. <g>

I find it interesting that when you s***the wall at Michigan in
preseason testing using Multi.exe (1.36), it keeps a cloud of dust and
smoke suspended in air at that point until you exit the track.  I'm sure
this is one of those random features. :-)

BTW, I use a P133.  I never experienced any problems with NCR1 before I
upgraded to a P133 from 486.  I imagine these warping problems are
associated with the Pentium processors.  If anyone can refute this by
giving us an example of a similar problem using a 486, it might help
Papyrus fix this.

This happened to me once at Talladega while under the yellow in a single
player race.  Didn't blow my engine or wreck my car just threw me out of
the track.  I was about 2-4 (?) miles away from the track when I finally
stopped spinning.  I drove back to the track, between the stands, and
attempted to drive over the wall (grass was level with top of wall) and as
soon as my car was over the wall then I exploded.  VERY WEIRD.

I had a similar thing happen at 'dega.  Smoke at several spots on the track
for the entire race, right from the start line.  Looked like someone had burnt
*** for say...20ft or so.  The strange part was their car must've had
three rear wheels.  ;->  There were three trails of smoke all equal length.
Is this a glitch or just something I don't know about?  Didn't seem to hurt
anything.  Just kinda shrugged my shoulders and went on.
