F1 2002 / 60 Hz only?

by Uwe Schuerkam » Mon, 09 Dec 2002 22:20:28

Hi folks,

I've googled around if this issue has been discussed before,
for I cannot get f1 2002 out of 60hz mode at  1024x768 (32 bit).

Both GTR2002 and GPL run fine at 75Hz and above in the same
depth and resolution, and I even tried HZtool that is
recommended in one of the postings to no avail.

System specs: Athlon XP 1800+, Dell 1025HE monitor (nice one
;-), Win98SE. What really seems odd is that GTR2002 runs fine
at the higher refresh rate (installed to the same f2002 dir),
while f2002 refuses to do so.

Thanks much in advance for any help,

Uwe

Doesnt the 3d setup program let you choose what refresh rate you want?

Only if you're using Win2K or XP.  Chalk one up for those OSes.

I find that under Win9X, the refresh rate in F1200X seems to be determined
by the desktop refresh rate.  There's a whole bunch of tools around that let
you lock refresh rates on nVidia cards.  There's one called NVRT (NVidia
Refresh Tool) that a friend of mine swears by.  The latest 40.XX drivers
have a refresh rate overide setting but very few people have reported that
it actually works - seemed very erratic when I played around with it.  Hope
this helps.

The new nvidia drivers (40.xx) allow setting a fixed refresh
rate for certain resolutions, but these still won't help with
F1 2002. GTR2002 runs great at the same resolution at 75Hz
while F1 2002 seems bent on using 60Hz. I really have no idea
what's going on here...

cheers & thanks for your suggestions,

uwe
