OT: FX 5900 Ultra Disappointment

I very disappointed with the performace and the image quailty of the FX5900
256meg Ultra card.  I could not
get it to run or look anywhere near as good as my 9800Pro.  I sent it back
the next day, not worth $500.00 bucks. I had high hopes for this card, I
have always
been a big NVIDA guy, but ATI is really putting a hurt on them right now.

My question is a bit off topic from your off topic post but why would anyone
with a 9800 pro buy a $500 FX5900 Ultra?

I've just always been the sucker that buys every card that
comes out. Alway, looking for something better.

I know what you mean, almost ordered a 5900 ultra too to replace the 9800
pro, I'll leave it now I think.

Whoooweeeee then you my friend are in luck. I just happen to have a card
that is the creme dela creme.   Yessir you won't find this baby in any
store.  In fact, if you take this gf3...errr  I mean this Gewhizbaby-cubed
beta card for almost free.  Just send that poor old 9800pro here and we'll
return our latest effort.  YOU WON'T BELEIVE YOUR EYES!!!

Maybe he never even bought a 5900 and is really an ATI employee
spreading propoanda so we will buy the 9800pro and pass on the 5900.
<shifts eyes left and right>
Maybe not, but maybe so. I could see either company resorting to such
tactics. I'm not buying either myself, not at those prices anyway.

ATI employee or not, I think he's right regarding one aspect though. The
ATI's image quality when Aniso and 4xFSAA are enabled, is considerably
better than that of any Nvidia card.

FSAA and Aniso is great for people who have slow CPUs.  It gives the
graphics card something to do while it's waiting for the CPU

I beg to differ :-) I find both quite useful, especially since ATI has
implemented both very well.

Yep, those are two options I never use. Except anisio in European Air
War makes the game look *much* better. But in most games it is just
not needed and I won't trade eye candy for speed.

Wasn't that a beach in Central Western Italy that was used as a second
