F1 2000 3d setup

In the 3d setup for F1 2000, what does "use EAX" mean? Does that work my
card harder meaning less fps, or does it help me? P2 400, Voodoo3 3000,
128 mb, SB live value. Thanks in advance folks!

It's the surround for your SB Live card. It may give a slight loss of frame
rate, or none, but it doesn't make it faster.

Interesting how it would use the hardware acceleration on the
soundcard and STILL have a loss in framerate.

3D sound uses a lot of resources, so a cpu slowdown could occur. It's in
some readme files for FPS games.

That is why I would have expected that the 3D hardware on
the soundcard would handle it. I'm glad to know it doesn't
as it will no doubt save me some $$$.
