Well, let's say you are connected on the net with a 56K modem and
want to make a race online...
You go to VROC, enter on the server, have a list of all the races
that are currently held, with the track, number of people already
in....
You click on the race you want to join, it starts HPL, connects you
to the race server, makes all the complicated TCP settings, and off
you go....

be sure to get the patches, there is something to change in the .ini
file it's indicated on the site, and also the discofix patch (not a
crazy american dance).

Warning: online racing -is- ***ive..
Be sure to install that ini patch from the vroc site. If you get no
racelist, just ask in the vroc chat, people will help you there.
See you on the track,

Warning: online racing can be frustrating.  The frequency of T1 shunts
really started to***me off, so I joined a league.  A lot of the drivers
in open races are good and clean, but all it takes is one overzealous jerk.

Diki, if you find yourself getting ***ed (and you will<g>), think about
joining a league.  The racing is much cleaner and its a great way to make
friends.

And, as I've just discovered, VROC has been usurped by the "Vulcan
Riders and Owners Club" here in the USA.  Vulcan is an ersatz Harley
built by Polaris, the snowmobile company.

If you think VROC pickup races are ***, you should try some N4 races
online.. You'll love it if you like driving 90% of the race behind a
pacecar :)
