        That's odd. I have used both Nascar 1 and Indy Car Racing 2 with a
normal Gravis Analog joystick without problems on any kind. Are there
switches in your joystick that can be used to configure the buttons either
"A", "B" or turned off?

        I have used a Gravis joystick rather comfortably setting the
buttons on the left side as throttle and brake. I can't think of any smart
way of changing gears with the same joystick.
